How to Make a Safety Pin Bell Ornament
If you are looking for new ideas for homemade Christmas crafts, I think you will love making a sweet little safety pin bell ornament like the one I made.
I was inspired by the somewhat similar safety pin angel ornament.
This bell has fewer steps and is simpler. Here is how to make it.
Materials
9 gold safety pins (Size 2; approximately 1-1/2 inched long)
1 white 12mm pearl
9 white 8mm pearls
38 white 6mm pearls
1 white 19mm X 6 mm "rice" bead
12 inches thin gold wire (26 or 28 gauge)
8 inches ribbon
Thin gold cord (to hang ornament) (optional)
Instructions
Open safety pin and bead it with four 6mm white pearls. Close safety pin. Repeat until all nine safety pins are beaded. Cut one 2-inch piece of wire. Thread the wire through the coils at the bottom of the safety pins.

Twist the wire to secure it. This will be the top of the bell. Trim excess.
Cut one 5-inch piece of wire. Thread through the holes in the heads of the safetypins, inserting an 8mm pearl between each head. Twist wire to secure. This will be the bottom of the bell. Trim excess wire.

For the clapper, cut another 5-inch piece of gold wire and coil one end. Slip on one 12mm white pearl, then two 6mm pearls and one 19mm X 6 mm rice bead.
Thread the other end of the wire up through the center of the bell (as shown in the left photo below). Pull the wire up as far as it will go, or let it hang a little lower if you want more of the clapper to show. Thread the wire through a couple of the pin coils, then form a loop. Wrap the wire around the base of the loop to secure well (as shown in the right photo below).

Tie a bow around the base of the loop, as shown in the photo at top of the page.
If you enjoyed making this bell ornament, you may also be interested in the dragonfly ornament. It is made using pearls and gold wire and is very pretty.
