Mosaic Wall Clock Kit

Mosaic Craft Supplies

You will love this ready-to-make wall clock kit. Each kit contains materials to create a beautiful mosaic clock, including a wooden base board, clock mechanism, mosaic stones, grout, mixing stick, sponge, glue, and instructions.

The kit also comes with three templates to choose from, or you can create your own design.

The clock measures approximately 8 x 8 inches (20 x 20cm).

The beautiful, subtle colors of the stones are based on ancient Greek and Roman mosaics.

Here are two of the templates:

Wall clock kit.The box cover does not show the third template. However, other packages I have seen which appear to be for the same kit show a third design with a fish motif, as shown in the picture to the right.

The unique mosaic stones that come with this kit have no sharp edges and are safe and easy to work with. They cannot be broken by hand, but they can be cut with standard craft scissors without crumbling.

Each stone is approximately 3/8" (10mm) square, but no two stones are exactly alike. The thickness, height, and shape vary somewhat from stone to stone.

In addition to the kit, you also will need scissors, a bowl of water, and several paper towels. You also will need a putty knife or spatula or other smooth-edged tool for spreading and smoothing the grout.

Unless the grout is premixed (and I don't think that it is), you also will need a bucket or other container, and perhaps a measuring cup or spoons, for preparing the grout. The instructions that come with the kit should tell you what to do and how much water to add.

You also will need a workspace, including a space where your clock can remain undisturbed while the grout hardens. You also will need newspaper or a plastic tablecloth or something similar to protect your work surface.

Here are a few tips to follow when applying the grout:

After you have placed your stones where you want them, all you need to do is to spread the grout onto your clock using a spreader. Be sure that all the grout lines between the stones are completely filled in. Then take a damp sponge and sponge off the excess grout.

Rinse off your sponge occasionally in the bowl of water. Wring it out well before sponging off the grout. A sponge that is too wet might make the grout too watery, which can result in cracking.

Repeat until you have removed all excess grout.

Take care not to let grout get into your sink. Do not pour the water you used to clean up the grout down the drain. Do not rinse off grout-covered sponges or tools in the sink. The grout will harden and clog your pipes.

This kit is recommended for ages ten and up.

"WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs."
