Fun Family Crafts

Looking for fun family crafts? Although this website generally is geared towards adults and teens, you certainly will find kid friendly arts and crafts projects here too that families with younger children can all enjoy together.

I have grouped some family crafts here for your convenience. Just take a look at these!

Here is a "no heat, no melt, no mess" method of candle making that is safe for children and lots of fun for all! You will be amazed at how quickly you can make lovely pillar and tapered candles using beeswax sheets.

Make scratch art placecards using special paper and a pointed wooden stick (be sure to supervise children!). Just scrape away the black coating to expose lots of fun colors beneath!

Inexpensive unpainted wooden ladybug and butterfly clocks are available (preassembled) in sets of six.

Create your own design. Each member of the family can paint his or her own clock!

Use water-based acrylic paints to decorate preformed plaster ornaments.

You can even personalize them to make Christmas place cards and party favors.

Ready-made paper mache ornaments  are fun and easy to paint and decorate. They are available at craft supply stores and come in various shapes. I see them stocked year round at Michaels and other arts and crafts stores.

Use water-based acrylic paints for easy clean up. Glue on rhinestones or add stickers and decals. (Important: Be sure to supervise young children. Rhinestones and similar items pose a risk of choking.)

Here is a more kid friendly version of the glass ball Halloween spider ornament. This Spider Crafts ornament is easier and is made with a Styrofoam ball instead of glass.

Kits that include brushes and acrylic craft paints are sometimes available (I have found that sometimes they are out of stock), or you can get just the pigs and use paints and brushes that you already have.

This is a fun family project suitable for pretty much all age groups and skill levels. Younger children will need supervision.
