Unfinished Wooden Christmas Ornaments
for You to Paint

One low-priced package includes 48 ornaments, from S&S; Worldwide!

I have purchased a number of items from S&S; Worldwide, including these inexpensive, "paint 'em yourself" wooden Christmas ornaments, and have been very pleased with the good value and fine customer service I have received each time. I want to share the good news with you.

As you can see in the photo, these ornaments come in four designs: angel, bear, gingerbread man, and snowman. There are twelve of each design, for a total of 48 ornaments in the set.

The designs are already printed on the ornaments, and a gold string for hanging is already attached as well.

The ornaments are all 4-1/4 inches high and between 3 and 3-3/4 inches wide.

These ornaments are appropriate for pretty much all age groups and skill levels. All you need to do is to paint between the lines, using whatever colors you choose.

You will need to purchase paints and brushes separately, or use supplies that you already have at home.

For my ornaments, I use acrylic crafts paints applied with brushes. I also use various paint pens and markers for some of the embellishments.

To the right is a picture of one of the ornaments I painted. Pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself! I used the flat end of a wooden skewer dipped in paint to apply the dots.

Finishing with a transparent sealer isn't necessary (I usually don't do it), but it would help make the ornaments more durable. If you do use a sealer, be sure to use one that is appropriate for the kind of paint you use on the ornaments (e.g., acrylic, oil-based, metallic finish, etc.).

An excellent paint to use on these ornaments is DecoArt Patio Paint. When I did my ornaments, I hadn't used Patio Paint yet, but since then I have used it on other projects and I love it! It works great on wood (as well as other surfaces) and doesn't require a primer or sealer. It also is water resistant.

During the painting process, the outline of the design that is pre-printed on each ornament often gets at least partially covered up with paint. What I like to do after I have completed painting and the paint is good and dry is to redraw the outline of the design using a black paint pen with an extra fine point. This step isn't really necessary. It just depends on the look you want for the ornament.

If you prefer to paint your own design instead of using the pre-printed pattern, just paint over the design using an opaque paint. I have done that on a number of the ornaments I have painted. For example, I painted the first gingerbread man (in the photos below) using the pre-printed design, and used my own design for the second gingerbread man ornament.

I have given away some of the ornaments I painted as token Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers. Everyone seems to really like them. I also have saved some of the ornaments for my own use, as well as to have some on hand for future gifts and perhaps as inventory for craft fairs.

These inexpensive, easy-to-paint ornaments also are a great idea for party favors or even place cards. You can personalize them if you want to.
